STEWART DISTINGUISHED HIMSELF ON AND OFF THE GOLF COURSE. AT LCA HE WAS A SIX YEAR LETTERMAN AND FINISHED IN THE TOP TEN IN 26 HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENTS DURING HIS CAREER. HE FINISHED AS THE INDIVIDUAL STATE RUNNER UP TWICE AND WAS NAMED KENTUCKY’S MR. GOLF IN 2010 WHEN HE LED THE EAGLES TO THEIR FIRST STATE TITLE. 
AFTER LEAVING LCA, HE WENT ON TO STAR AT VANDERBILT, WHERE HE FINISHED IN THE TOP 10 IN 23 TOURNAMENTS IN HIS CAREER, INCLUDING A SCHOOL RECORD 4 CAREER WINS. HE WAS NAMED A FINALIST FOR THREE NATIONAL COLLEGIATE GOLF AWARDS. HIS SENIOR YEAR AT VANDY HE FINISHED THIRD IN THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP, WAS NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-SEC, FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN AND SEC PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
HE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE US WALKER CUP AND PALMER CUP TEAMS AND MISSED THE CUT AT THE 2014 US OPEN BY A SINGLE SHOT. HE FINISHED HIS AMATEUR CAREER RANKED FOURTH IN THE WORLD. UPON TURNING PRO, HE HAS COMPETED IN 8 PGA TOUR EVENTS, INCLUDING ONE TOP TEN FINISH.
