Rupp Wins, Hayes 4th at Meet of Champions

On Saturday October 20th the LCA Cross Country teams met at Masterson Station to compete in the 2018 KTCCCA Meet of Champions, joining over 6000 Kentucky runners in one of the largest one day meets in the Nation.

First up on the wet course was the 35 Team, 444 competitor Boys High School Varsity Race.  The LCA boys placed 6th as a team with Sophomore Connor Hayes placing 4th and Senior Andrew Madden 6th.

After the boys it was the girls turn to take the line with 25 teams and 242 girls entered.
From the gun, Freshman Anna Rupp ran with the lead pack taking the lead at the 1 Mile mark and she did not look back cruising to a comfortable 12-second margin of victory earning the Meet Champion title. Despite the girls team having their #4 through #7 runners competing the middle school race they finished a strong #7th place in the team race.

Next up for both teams is the KHSAA Region 5 Class A state qualifying meet in Danville on Saturday October 27th with both teams aiming for their 5th straight Region title.
