Winston “Wynn” Harris Named Baseball Coach at LCA
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) today announced that it has hired Winston “Wynn” Harris as its new baseball coach. Harris comes to LCA from South Laurel High School in London where he served as that school’s head coach for the past ten years.
“Though it is tough to leave the players and relationships we have built at South Laurel, I am very excited about the opportunity at LCA,” stated Coach Harris. “To follow Keith Galloway will be a tough task, but the opportunity to take over a terrific program in the always-tough 43rd district and coach in a faith-based setting was simply too much of an opportunity to pass up.”
After graduating from Campbellsville High School, Harris pitched at the University of the Cumberlands from 200-2003. Upon graduation, he became a graduate assistant baseball coach at Southern Arkansas University before becoming an assistant coach at South Laurel in 2005. He was promoted to head coach in 2007.
In ten seasons at the helm of the Cardinals, Harris posted a 211-128 record, including 36-13 in the post-season. His teams made four trips to the KHSAA State Tournament, making the semi-finals in 2014, and 20 of his players went on to play collegiate baseball during his time at South Laurel.
“Replacing a man like Keith Galloway is not easy,” stated LCA Director of Athletics Terry Johnson. “But in Wynn, we found a proven winner on the field and a man of deep faith that can pour into these kids. We are ready to support him in every way possible to be successful here and we’re excited about the future of LCA Baseball.”
Harris has accepted a teaching position at LCA and will begin teaching and coaching this Fall.
