Girls Find Momentum Over Christmas Break; Finish Runners Up at Lady Lion Classic

The girls basketball team was very busy over Christmas break. They played in two tournaments, winning three of their final four games of the break, and began playing their best basketball of the season thus far.

Just after Christmas, the girls played in the Lady Lion Classic in Garrard County and after two thrilling victories against Garrard County and Woodford County, they came up just short in a close loss to Newport. Their runner-up finish was just another indication they are moving in the right direction.

Juniors Bethany Selby (15pts/5reb) and Grace Combs (13pts/6reb) have led the way. Couple their efforts with the steady development of young players such as sophomore Jaylin McClanahan (5pts/3reb), sophomore Mackenzie Buckler (2 pts/4reb), freshman Emilie Teall (4pts/6reb) and freshman Gracie Royalty (3pts/3reb) and you see the reason for optimism with this young squad.

The junior varsity team, though not in action over the break has beeen doing very well with several young players that give coach Menifee a pipeline of young talented players.

As 2018 gets underway, make sure to catch the Lady Eagles at home this season. Their schedule can befound HERE.
