Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams Sweep Regionals

Lexington Christian Track teams are the 2017 KHSAA Class A Region 5 Champions

Congratulations to the LCA Girls and Boys Track and Field Teams for both bringing home the KHSAA Class A Region 5 Titles from this past weekend’s meet in Danville. 
The girls scored a 27 point margin of victory, 137-110 over meet runner-up Owen County. 

Individual Regional Champions are: Sophomore Kendall Hayes in the 800 and 1600 meter runs, 7th grader Anna Rupp in the 3200 meter run, 8th Grader Allison Whitaker in the 400 meter dash, Sophomore Alex Smith in the Pole Vault and Sophomore Kaylee Alsip in the High Jump.

The boys team had an equally impressive showing with their 22 point margin of victory 161-139 over host runner-up Danville.  Individual Regional champions are: Junior Drayden Burton in the 100 meter dash, Senior Blake Richardson in the 800 meter run, and Senior Adam Huff in the 3200 meter run.  In addition to the individual regional titles, the boys swept the relays, winning regional titles in all four of them. 
After the results of all the 7 state wide regional competitions, the girls qualified 13 athletes and 6 alternates in a total of 15 events with the boys qualifying 14 athletes and 10 alternates in a total of 18 events.  Allison Whitaker has the highest LCA girls state meet seeding of 3rd in the 400 meter dash. 
On the boys side, the 4x800 relay team has the #1 state seed time and the duo of Adam Huff and 8th grader Connor Hayes will start #1 and #2 in the 3200 meter run.
The KHSAA Class A State Track and Field Meet will be held Saturday May 20th, starting at 9:00 AM at the University of Kentucky Track and Field Complex.
